Aug 20, 1918/ Tuesday War Diary: sick from heat & water

It has been another beastly hot day and this alkali road dust seems to go right through our clothes. We go swimming every day. Couldn’t eat supper tonight as I was sick to my stomach. Something wrong with the water, I guess. Max Carrigan’s minstrel meets again tonight and the band will be out too. Guess I’ll take it in.
