August 22, 1918/ Thursday War Diary: Heat and too much cider

Another blistering hot day and I’m pretty tired tonight. Have been hitting up my cider pretty heavy and am commencing to feel it. Nearly everyone of the boys was sick last night on the water so they are boiling it now. It takes so long to cool in this hot weather that it’s warm all the time, so I drink cider instead. Hiked for two hours today under full pack and believe me, several of the boys nearly went under with the heat. Had some instruction on the 75 mm gun today.
