Nov 7, 1918/Thursday War Diary: visiting the 65th C.A.C.'s 8 inch guns

Went over to the 65th C.A.C. this a.m. and visited several of their big 8 inch guns. Each gun has a pet name, "Terrier," "Bulldog," etc. Capt. Raymond Linton commands one of the companies, I hear. Several shells came over and hit within 100 ft of us, Newmar, Brumner & I, so we beat a hasty retreat. Saw another airplane battle this p.m. Hun got away from 2 Yanks.
