Oct 16, 1918/ Saturday (not far from front) War Diary: can hear long range guns

Heard the long range guns firing last night so guess we’re not far from the front. We are about 80 miles S of Metz & 40 miles from Alsace Lorraine border. The river Marne is not far from here.
