Oct 24, 1918 (Troyes to Manois) War Diary: passing troops

Made a hammock out of my bed racks and enjoyed a good night’s sleep. Woke up at Troyes & saw a number of Yanks. They belonged to some Medical corps. Pulled into Balogne at 3:30 p.m. and met a trainload of Michigan boys (16th Engr’s). They were going back for a rest after a siege at the front. They were mustered at Custer last winter.

Pulled into Andelot at 5 bells and unloaded. Started on a 8 or 9 kilo hike through Remicourt, where there is a large Base hospital & thru Humberville. No rest all the way till we reached some empty barracks at Manois (Oct 25). Next day the boys built sidewalks and we expect to be here for a while as I set up a supply room. The bunks here are fine.
