Oct 29, 1918/ Thursday (Domgermain) War Diary: too much drinking and cold

(for map of Domgermain and Toul click here)

Gus was drunk last night and picked an argument with me. I was half "lit" and we nearly mixed. Lieut. Gobel came in and gave him hell and sent him to bed. He got up again and Price put him back in bed. We left at noon, marching to Remicourt where we loaded up . Had supper at loading dock.

Pulled out at 6 p.m. and reached Domgermain about 12:15. nearly froze. Had a bum car to ride in and nearly froze. Unloaded in the dark and marched to our barracks close by. Slept on burlap sacks on dirt floor. Pretty cold night. Big Handley Paige British bombing plane landed in a field nearby here while we were unloading.
