Oct 30, 1918/ Wednesday War Diary: first aerial attack

Got out at 7 a.m. & went up town to get some wine. Had a couple of bottles of good beer. Went over to see the big plane. It was over 100 feet long, has crew of 3 men and carried 1600 lbs of aerial torpedoes or bombs. Saw our first aerial attack tonight. The Boche was bombing Nancy, Toul & Port a Mousson and the anti-aircraft guns were busy. Searchlights played all over the sky. Some excitement. We are now in the zone of advance. Salvaged ordnance here, harness, etc
